Agua Rica Mine
The Agua Rica mine is a copper mine located in the Catamarca Province of Argentina and represents one of the largest copper reserves in Argentina. RGC was retained to complete a pre-feasibility study for the mine tailings management, mine ARD and rock dump design, and environmental measures planning. Services provided include identification of environmental issues; geochemical and physical characterization of mine waste materials; ARD prediction and interpretation; estimates of metal loadings from the mine site; and design of control strategies for surface groundwater. Alternative tailings sites selection, geotechnical assessment of tailings dam safety and stability and pit slope and mine rock pile stability studies were also provided, as well as identification of post closure mine conditions and cost estimations for control measures.
