Cantung Mine
Project Description
The CanTung mine is located in the Northwest Territories, approximately 300 km north of Watson Lake, Yukon along the Nahanni Range Road. The mine produced tungsten from open pit operations between the years 1962 and 1973 and underground operations from 1974 to 1986 when the mine closed due to low tungsten prices. The existing mineable reserves are estimated to be approximately 694,000 tonnes at 1.82% WO3.
RGC completed review and assessment of geochemical testing of the CanTung tailings, as well as developed a program for additional future testing given the potential for re-opening.
